A lifelong love of baking and cooking, combined with home decorating and interior design brought us on a journey of discovery that would see us combining all of these passions into a new business, located in a beautiful coastal location.

Coast & Co, a family run business, opened it's doors in late September 2022, in the Victorian Village of Greenore, Co Louth.

Our journey to this point included us operating an online interiors and homeware store, a Christmas Pop-Up Store and the development of an interior design service, however we always knew that we wanted a physical location to facilitate our customers due to the tactile nature of our products.  We spent five long years looking for the right premises that would tick all the boxes on our wish-list!  We knocked on many doors, sometimes on the same door several times as we would be told there was a possibility that a space would be available, we were deflated and disappointed each time as either the location wasn't suitable, the space was too small or there was some other issue with it.

Our luck changed in 2022, when we secured The Old Schoolhouse, Greenore!  It was our 13th attempt to secure a space, this time it was our lucky number!

We focused on making the location a destination location, somewhere that our customers could come to for a coffee, breakfast or lunch, to meet friends or family, somewhere they could sit for a while and enjoy the ambiance, but also they could browse through our selection of interiors and gift-ware.  We wanted to create a space that they would always feel welcome in.

Our first main focus was on our cafe; to create amazing food, using the finest of ingredients, making and baking everything we possibly could in-house.  Our menu is full of both traditional and artisan dishes, with lots of variety and something for everyone.  We constantly develop our ideas and add new dishes and weekly specials.  Our baking display and desserts are mouthwatering, our brown bread is renowned throughout the region!  A fine selection of wines and Italian beer, can be enjoyed, alongside our lunch menu.  Bistro Nights have proved to be very popular, where we turn our cafe into a restaurant for a night, with an extensive menu offering.

On the interiors and homeware side of the business, we have display areas throughout the cafe that showcase lots of our stock.  Gorgeous new products are constantly being added, we strive to carefully select from suppliers that are not readily available in other nearby shops, we like to offer something a little bit different.  We seek out artisan producers, and items made in an ethical manner, we particularly love buying items that have a story behind them, whether its from a small handcraft business, or a village of artisan women in the Far East, or somebody local who is able to provide for their family because we helped them to showcase their work, we love a good story!

Our interiors showroom is currently in the pipeline, and will become a space dedicated to showcasing a unique collection of inspiring, functional furnishings and gift-ware, we are somewhat perfectionists and want to ensure that every detail is perfect before we open the doors to it!  This space will also house our Interior Design Studio, which specialises in creating bespoke interiors that are luxurious, classic and timeless. Our customers will be able of avail of our design service to select fabrics, wallpapers, paint colours and furnishings to complement their homes.

Our website was put on hold for our first year in business, so that we could concentrate on developing our physical space.  Our online store is now being developed and we will continue to add lots of new items as they arrive, not all of our stock will be available on our website initially, though it may be on our social media, but please get in touch if there is something in particular that you'd like but can't see online.

What other plans do we have for the future?

Due to the location of our premises, on the beautiful Cooley Peninsula, and on the shores of Carlingford Lough, we have not just locals but many visitors and tourists as our customers.  Our business is currently developing in additional directions to complement what we already do and also to cater for our growing visitors numbers.  We can't divulge just yet, what we're working on but what we can say is that everything that we do is done with sensitivity to the historic nature of our building, our village and the many wonderful people that live in the village.  So watch this space and we'll soon be able to share our plans with you!

Many thanks for your interest in us and following our journey at coast&co.ie
