Soft, sophisticated and beautifully grown-up, this luxury neutral teen bedroom proves that a neutral palette can have just as much personality as a room filled with colour.
Warm ivory tones, sculptural furniture and layers of tactile fabrics create a calm and luxurious bedroom, while brushed brass, glass and subtle fashion-inspired accessories give the space a youthful edge.
Designed to grow with its owner, this is a bedroom that feels special now but won't quickly be outgrown.
Behind The Design
The starting point for this kitchen was creating contrast within an otherwise neutral palette.
Rather than using one cabinetry finish throughout, we introduced a rich walnut island to anchor the room and create a strong focal point. Against the softer warm neutral cabinetry, the darker timber brings depth and makes the island feel more like a beautifully crafted piece of furniture.
The surrounding cabinetry extends towards the ceiling, making the most of the room's proportions while creating a fitted, architectural appearance. Traditional framed doors, substantial cornicing and warm brass hardware add a sense of craftsmanship and permanence.
At the cooking area, a bespoke mantel-style surround breaks up the cabinetry and gives the kitchen another architectural focal point, while the oversized wall clock adds character and a more relaxed, lived-in quality.
Softly veined stone worktops continue across the perimeter cabinetry and oversized walnut island, bringing lightness to the darker timber while providing a generous surface for cooking, serving and entertaining.
A statement antique brass and crystal pendant is centred over the island, complemented by softer decorative lamps and under-cabinet lighting around the room.
The result is a warm neutral kitchen that feels refined and luxurious, but still comfortable enough to become the true heart of the home.

Designer Notes
When designing a neutral kitchen, contrast is one of the most important elements to consider.
Using similar neutral tones throughout every surface can quickly leave a room feeling flat. Here, the combination of painted cabinetry, dark walnut, pale stone and warm metal finishes creates depth without introducing lots of competing colours.
The walnut island is deliberately much darker than the surrounding cabinetry. This anchors such a substantial piece within the room and allows it to become a feature in its own right rather than simply an extension of the kitchen units.
Scale is equally important. Taking cabinetry towards the ceiling emphasises the height of the room, while substantial cornicing gives the joinery a properly built-in, bespoke appearance.
The oversized island can comfortably carry a statement light fitting, but proportion still matters. A linear pendant follows the length of the island and draws the eye through the room without visually overpowering it.
Lighting has also been layered rather than relying solely on ceiling lighting. Under-cabinet illumination and small decorative lamps create softer pools of light around the kitchen, completely changing the atmosphere in the evening.
Finally, accessories have been kept relatively restrained. Flowers, cookbooks, ceramics, candles and a handful of decorative objects add personality while allowing the cabinetry and natural materials to remain the focus.
Why this room works
This kitchen works because it balances luxury with warmth.
The full-height cabinetry, substantial cornicing, bespoke cooker surround and oversized island give the room presence, but the neutral colour palette prevents it from feeling imposing.
Cream, warm taupe and softly veined stone keep the overall scheme light, while the dark walnut kitchen island and antique brass details introduce the richer tones needed to give the space depth.
There is also a deliberate mix of classic and contemporary elements.
Traditional framed cabinetry and architectural detailing give the kitchen longevity, while the clean-lined island, upholstered counter stools and statement lighting bring the scheme into a more contemporary setting.
The large central island becomes the social heart of the kitchen. With generous preparation space and seating for four, it creates somewhere to cook, gather, work or sit with a coffee without interrupting the main working area.
Most importantly, the room doesn't feel like a showroom.
Soft lighting, flowers, books, ceramics and decorative pieces give the kitchen a lived-in quality. It's polished and luxurious, but still feels like somewhere you would genuinely want to spend time.
